Marriage is a Holy Sacrament religious art oil painting by Marta Sytniewski

The Sacrament of Holy Matrimony

By Marta Sytniewski
Materials: Industrial stucco, glass beads, glitter, spray paint, acrylic and oil on three canvases.
Size: 56″ x 91″
Marriage is a Holy Sacrament and it is a way to Salvation. God commends us to love one another. Our love must be compassionate, caring, merciful and absolutely free. We must love each other generously, always serving the other person with joy and confidence that we are doing God’s will. The Lord himself took on human flesh, lived, died and lives again for us. Let’s hand over our lives with joy to our husband or wife and together in one unity offer ourselves and live for the glory of God. Because we are weak and fallible, God took on pain, suffering and death in our place. In Holy Matrimony we commit before The Almighty Creator to love and stay by the other person through sickness, through poverty, through emotional and psychological pain, through intense suffering and through everything that will come our way, until death do us part. This is why marriage blessed by God is holy; because if it a commitment to sacrifice one’s life in love for the wellbeing of the other person. We must persist in love through the worst by confessing our sins and turning to God together in persistent prayer and in partaking in our Church family. God’s angels protect and strengthen a marriage committed to One True God in The Holy Trinity. May the Good Lord bless you and keep you. Amen.

Winning the Spiritual Warfare of unhealthy thoughts, feelings, passions and lies.

We battle unhealthy thoughts, feelings, passions and lies that take control of our reason, make captive our conscience, and take God’s place in our lives. The Savior explains that the Spiritual Warfare is in the mind:

3 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (NIV)

The Devil uses deception: clever arguments and rationalizations for holding onto self-destructive beliefs. He uses temptation by making sin look normal, accepted, harmless and fun. He makes evil look good and pleasing. He also uses accusations. The devil accuses us of our failures being unforgivable, unique and shameful, condemned and hopeless… He uses this to keep us away from confession and persistent in what is bad, and thus, to have us unknowingly do his bidding. He convinces us that a different life is not possible or practical; that while persisting in sin and accepting it, we won’t have to face the mirror. Sin has its direct consequences: when we drink excessively = we get alcohol poisoning and addiction, when we cheat = we feel evil because our actions are evil, we destroy ourselves. God offers forgiveness and healing. We sometimes try to numb our pain with food, work, the computer, the TV, sex, alcohol or drugs and we damage ourselves even more. We must expose our transgressions in confessing, rid ourselves of sin from our entire lives and reorienting our lives to Christ. Our Heavenly Dad always loves us, understands us and cares for us. God is the Pure Goodness and He is the only way to peace of mind and rest of the spirit. The Almighty Creator himself tells us:

28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)

Temptation will occur on regular basis, as evil, pain, suffering and death are things of this world, all that God himself experienced when He became human, and he showed us, step-by-step how to deal with everything that may come our way. Our Loving Father freely gives us everything we need to experience healing of our emotional wounds and of the pain we have inflicted on ourselves with sin. God offers us Divine armor to break the strongholds of misunderstanding, fear, doubt and resentment and to break the chains of sin that keep us in a bad place in our lives:

Ephesians 6:11-18
11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Notice that in this painting of the Armor of God, the helmet of salvation refers to the triumph of The Savior in the mind. The faces of the angels are reflecting God’s glory with bright light and their kind smiling expressions indicate the persistent and everlasting joy that Jesus Christ cultivates within us.

God bless you and lead you with His Holy Spirit.

The Armor of God oil painting by Chicago artist Marta Sytniewski

The Armor of God 1
Part of: The Sacrament of Holy Matrimony (56″ x 91”)
By: Marta Sytniewski
Material: Industrial stucco, glass beads, glitter, spray paint, acrylic and oil on three canvases.Ephesians 6:10 Build up your strength in union with the Lord. Depend on his mighty power. 11 So take everything the Master has set out for you, well-made weapons of the best materials. And put them to use so you will be able to stand up to everything the Devil throws your way. 12 For we are not contending against people made of flesh and blood, but against the evil principalities and authorities of the unseen world, against those mighty powers of darkness who rule this world, and against wicked spirits in the heavenly realms. 13 Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued. Use every piece of God’s armor to resist the enemy in the time of evil, so that after the battle you will still be standing firm. 14 Stand your ground, putting on the sturdy belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. 15 For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News, so that you will be fully prepared. 16 In every battle you will need faith as your shield to stop the fiery arrows aimed at you by Satan. 17 Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. 18 In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray at all times and on every occasion in the power of the Holy Spirit. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all Christians everywhere. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.

I would have given up on painting such a large work a long time ago, because I am weak and sinful, but through prayer the Holy Spirit has strengthened me. Truly with God all things are possible. Glory be to the Holy Trinity; One God; Our Good Father who cares for and loves his undeserving children. I also thank Rafal Gondek who is an excellent model.

Charity in Poverty oil painting by Marta Sytniewski Significant Art

“Charity in Poverty”
By: Marta Sytniewski
Size: 24″ x 48″
Oil and acrylic on canvas.
This painting demonstrates how one can be charitable without a
financial investment. The central figure is helping animals,
caring for children, the elderly, and the ill. She is sharing her time and knowledge.
She is standing on a wealth of fruit, vegetables, and flowers that
she can grow herself. Children sing with joy in a warm embrace.
On her sides we see Mother Teresa and Saint Thomas Aquinas
who called charity “the highest of virtue”. This painting can be
also explained as the new art movement to embrace. Instead of
painting art to serve the artist, and his interests, art can be
helpful to the audience, charitable in sharing love and
knowledge; opening hearts that have hardened.

1. Ale w momencie w którym cierpimy niesprawiedliwie (np. śmierć rodziców, bieda, gwałty, niesprawiedliwe kary i oskarżenia) cala ta teoria opada. Wystarczy Mu zaufać i całym sercem w Niego wierzyć.

Pomimo jakichkolwiek cierpień, On jest ratunkiem i prawdziwą radością.
